Colorado

Known For: Mount Elbert is the highest point in the Rocky Mountains and the second highest peak in the contiguous United States. It is only 16 miles from Leadville, many hikers stay there before climbing Mount Elbert. There are five trails that lead to the top of Mount Elbert and they are all relatively easy. You don't have to be an experienced climber or runner to reach the top of Mount Elbert. Once there you will have an amazing view.

If you're going on a day trip to Mount Elbert, make sure you start early. There could be a storm on the mountain, and snow and ice is always a possibility, even if you're hiking in the summer. If you are on the mountain and the weather changes, go down the mountain as fast as you can. Wyoming

Hikers face the possibility of bad weather and encounters with black bears, but that doesn't stop many of them.

However, you need to be an experienced hiker, rock climber, and mountaineer to climb Gannett Peak. This mountain is quite remote and the slope is steep. In some places you will have to climb narrow peaks and climb rocks while facing extreme cold, snow and ice. Depending on weather conditions, it can take up to five days to reach the top. So get ready to camp in the countryside when it's cold. It is highly recommended that anyone wishing to climb Gannett Peak do so with a friend or guide. Hikers and climbers looking to take on the Gannett Peak challenge can explore the Elkhart Trail in Pinedale. This takes you past several lakes towards the Titcomb Basin. From the pool you can take one of several other trails that will take you to the base of the mountain.

Montana

Granite Peak is part of the Beartooth Mountain Range in southern Montana. At 12,799 feet, it is the highest peak in the state. But like many other Rocky Mountain peaks, this is not a climb for beginners. Hikers on Borah Peak hike trails that can gain 5,000 feet in elevation in just one five-mile section of trail. The paths to the top of the mountain are steep and long.

In good weather, hikers trying to reach the summit in one day can climb 12 hours or more. Hikers who use Borah Peak to hone their mountaineering skills should practice mountaineering, rock climbing and rock climbing before attempting to summit Borah Peak.

You can camp at the Borah Peak Trailhead, which is also recommended. Borah Peak hiking guides suggest starting your hike at 4:30 am. then you will be off the mountain by 1pm. There is RV and RV parking at the start of the Bull of the Woods Trail. If you take the Williams Lake Trail, you'll be hiking through Taos Ski Resort on your way to nature. Part of the trail is on private property, so please be respectful and stay on the trail.

Utah

There are several paths that take hikers to the summit. Henry's Fork Trail is the most popular trail. Hikers can meet and camp at the campsite at Henry's Fork Trailhead. Other trails leading to the summit include the Uinta River Trail and the Yellowstone Creek Trail. If you don't mind a lot of company, take the Henry's Fork Trail. But if you are a solo hiker and prefer to be alone with nature, the Uinta River Trail is the best option for you. This trail is much less crowded than the other two summit trails.
